On-loan midfielder Adam Nowland has admitted that although the result was not ideal, he enjoyed his second Gills debut. The 26-year-old moved to Priestfield on an initial one-month loan deal on Thursday and replaced Mark Bentley just before half-time in Saturday's game at Nottingham Forest. The Gills lost the game 4-0, and Nowland - who made three appearances for the Gills on loan in 2004 - is hoping to soon get back to his best. He suffered a broken leg in January 2006 and has made just one substitute appearance for North End since then after falling out of favour with manager Paul Simpson. Nowland told the Medway Messenger: 'I just need to get back to match fitness and get to know the lads and they need to get to know me. I haven`t even had a training session with them yet. 'I was injured but I`ve been fit and ready to play for the past eight or nine months. 'But I didn`t fit into the manger`s plans at Preston. So it was great to be back on the pitch again, even if it was a disappointing result. 'We conceded some sloppy goals but we kept the ball well at times and there`s a lot of promise. |
