Chelsea made the long trip to Humberside to take on Championship side, Hull City, in the 3rd round of the Carling Cup this evening.
In Avram Grant`s second match in charge, Chelsea were looking to end a run that hadn`t seen them taste victory for four games. A good win would also instil confidence ahead of the local derby with Fulham on Saturday.
Grant, for this tricky tie, would have to make do without the injured in his squad, namely Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard, Michael Ballack, and Ricardo Carvalho. Also missing would be Mikel who was serving the first of a three game ban received after his harsh sending off on Sunday at Old Trafford.
Grant made seven changes from the team that started at Old Trafford choosing to rotate his squad. Hull took to the field without Dean Windass, a Chelsea nemesis who seemingly never fails to score against us.
