It`s been a monumental week and at times a week I`ve struggled to comprehend what we`ve done to deserve. Indeed, the events remind me of one of my favourite film scenes. It came at the end of the first Planet of the Apes film when Charlton Heston set off to find a new life and stumbled across the 'Statue of Liberty` poking out of an apocalyptic landscape. Unable to comprehend what he`d just seen he muttered some line about them really having done it, it`s a bit like how I feel at the moment. However, I digress. The challenge as usual is to name the starting eleven for the fixture on Sunday against Manchester United. It`s the first game of the Grant / Clarke era and in a strange quirk of fate against opponents that our two previous managers, Ranieri and Mourinho both started their Chelsea managerial careers. Even stranger is the fact that Ranieri, exactly seven years ago to the day, made the same journey to Old Trafford that Grant and Clarke will make. The prize on offer will, as normal, befit the challenge and the rules, as normal, are simple, the first correct answer in the comments box scoops the prize. |
