Chelsea boss Jose Mourinhon has praised his players for ignoring constant speculation surrounding the club to remain in the hunt for four trophies. He said: "Only a team with the relationship we have between every member of the group could survive and do what we are doing."
Mourinho said before the Champions League quarter-final against Valencia: "I think we can all sleep well. "Even if we don't win more, I have only good feelings about my players." Mourinho's future has been under the spotlight amid claims of a breakdown in his relationship with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich. He added: "I have only good feelings about my commitment and what I give and about what I did to try and make the team have success." Valencia president Juan Soler remains confident, even though his side are missing a host of players. Striker Fernando Morientes has joined Ruben Baraja, Edu, Mario Regueiro and Jaime Gavilan on the injury list, while Carlos Marchena and David Navarro are suspended. "We are in a good moment despite the injuries and we are looking forward to meeting Chelsea," said Soler. "We have high hopes and a great desire to get through this tie. "We have Vicente, David Villa and Joaquin which is the best trident in Europe in my opinion, they are players who in form could cause damage to any team." |
