Pato, brought in with a massive transfer fee from Brazil during the summer cannot play till January due to work permit issues, and AC Milan will hope that they climb the table before then. Inter Milan have started off best of the bunch, gaining seventeen points after their first seven games and sitting three points ahead of both Roma and Juventus. Fiorentina have quietly snuck into fourth place and sit just a point behind the two above them. At the other end of the table, Livorno are in big trouble with just two points off their first seven games, while Reggina and Empoli are not fairing much better with four and five points respectively.
