Juventus are second in Group A with eight points from five games. The Turin giants were beaten 2-0 by Bordeaux on Match Day 5, throwing Bayern a lifeline ahead of Match Day 6. Juventus will qualify alongside Bordeaux as long as they avoid defeat against Bayern.

Juventus beat Inter Milan in the Derby D’Italia on Saturday to thrown open the Scudetto race again. The Bianconeri took the lead through summer signing Felipe Melo’s 20^th minute goal, but Inter were back level six minutes later through Samuel Eto’o’s header. Claudio Marchisio’s wonderful chip thirteen minutes into the second half ultimately proved to the difference between the two sides. Juve had Melo sent off three minutes from time, but held on to record a 2-1 win.

Bayern were in action in the Bundesliga on Friday and beat Borussia Monchengladbach 2-1 at the Allianz Arena. Mario Gomez gave FCB the lead in the 19^th minute, only for Gladbach to equalise nine minutes later through Roel Brouwers.

Bayern keeper Hans Jorg Butt had to make two saves from Rob Friend and Juan Arango as Gladbach sought to take the lead, but defender Holger Badtstuder dealt the killer blow to the visitors when he fired home a free kick in the 75^th minute of the game. The free kick was won by winger Arjen Robben.
