Liverpool trounced Real Madrid 5-0 on aggregate in the last round. The Reds beat the Spanish champions 1-0 at the Bernabeu in the first leg, before winning 4-0 at Anfield in the second leg. Chelsea progressed past Italian side Juventus 3-2 on aggregate in the last round. Chelsea won the first leg 1-0 at Stamford Bridge, thanks to a Didier Drogba goal. In the second leg the Blues went to Turin and drew 2-2, with goals from Michael Essien and Didier Drogba. Chelsea have met Liverpool eight times in Champions League winning two, losing two and drawing four games out of those games.

Chelsea will hope to progress to the semi finals, after making it to the final last season for the first time in their history. Chelsea have doubts over star striker Didier Drogba and right back Jose Bosingwa for this clash after both missed the weekend game at Newcastle.
