Villarreal v Panathinaikos Live
Villarreal take on underdogs Panathinaikos in the first leg of the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League, which is live here at www.oleolefootball.com from 19:45 GMT on Wednesday 25th February 2009 with live footy online.
Villarreal surprised everyone last year as they stunned Spain to finish 2nd in the La Liga ahead of the likes of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla. This year the Yellow Submarine are flying high again in 4th position as they look to qualify for Champions League football for yet another year running.
The Spanish side finished 2nd in Group E of the Champions League qualification groups that contained the likes of Manchester United and Celtic. Joan Capdevila is suspended along with striker Guillermo Franco, but the Spanish side will be boosted be the return of Turkish striker Nihat.
Panathinaikos are now widely considered as the tournament ‘underdogs’ with Real Madrid openly admitting they were hoping to draw the Greek side in the first round draw. Though it is hard to see why after the Greek club stunned Serie A giants Inter Milan to finish top of Group B of the Champions League qualification groups which also included German side Werder Bremen.
This is the first time Panathinaikos have reached the last 16 for over 7 years now and manager Henk ten Cate will look to secure a precious victory for the Greek side. The Prasinoi currently sit 2nd in the Greek Super Liga although the title is almost surely going to Olympiacos who have an 11 point lead over Panathinaikos.
This is Villarreal’s last chance for silverware this season whilst Panathinaikos look to overcome their title of ‘underdogs’ for the tournament and you can see the tie live here at www.oleolefootball.com with live football streams direct to your computer.
