The United States will be participating in their fourth Confederation Cup campaign, and do so virtue of their 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup win. In 1992 and 1999, the American team actually managed to finish third, but in 2003 they were knocked out in the first round.

Coach Marcello Lippi has a wealth of talent to choose from, and among those you can count the names of Buffon, Gattuso, Camoranese, Luca Toni, Iaquinta – the list goes on.

Italy start the competition as one of the hot favourites, along with Spain and Brazil and the South African fans are sure to be in for a treat with the likes of these teams strutting their stuff around the country’s stadiums.
