Genoa are third in Group B after their goalless draw against Slavia Prague on Match Day Five. The Rossoblu have however won both their Europa League group games at home this season. They beat Slavia 2-0 on Match Day 1 and squeezed past Lille 3-2 in November.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s men were beaten 1-0 by Lazio in Serie A on Sunday. Lazio defender Alexsandar Kolarov scored the winner on 39 minutes, outmuscling Genoa’s Emiliano Moretti before firing a low angled strike past veteran keeper Alessio Scarpi. The Rossoblu were denied by the woodwork on two separate occasions- once in the 26^th minute for Giuseppe Sculli and the other for Ivan Juric in the second half.

Valencia, like Genoa, tasted defeat in their weekend league game. Unai Emery’s men were beaten 3-2 by Real Madrid at the Mestalla. They came from behind twice in the game but ultimately surrendered in the 83^rd minute when Ezequiel Garay headed home the winner for Real.

Valencia’s goals were scored by David Villa and Joaquin Sanchez. Villa headed in Jeremy Mathieu’s cross on 59 minutes, while Joaquin netted in the 80^th minute. The assist for the Spanish winger’s goal also came from Mathieu, who missed Valencia’s Match Day Five win over Lille due to suspension. The same goes for Ruben Baraja while David Villa is also available for selection after serving his two match ban.
