The Barcelona derby takes pride of place this coming weekend in La Liga. Barcelona remain five points clear at the top of La Liga (albeit with a game extra over the other teams) thanks to a great 3-1 victory at Deportivo La Coruna this past Saturday. The win at high flying Deportivo means that Barcelona remain undefeated for the season going into the derby match, and remains the only team in La Liga to have not tasted defeat so far in the 2009-2010 campaign. In their fourteen games so far this season, they have won eleven of them and drawn the other three. Espanyol will be well aware that at the Nou Camp, Barca have a perfect six wins from six games played.

As with all derbies that take place in the world of football, Barca will not be complacent when their visitors come knocking. In fact they will probably be going into the game with the same mentality they did when playing Real a couple of weeks ago.

Espanyol, for their part, go into the game at the Nou Camp on the back of a 4-0 home thumping by Racing Santander. That result meant that they dropped to fourteenth in the league and they have thirteen points. Away they have one win, two draws and three defeats.
