Blackburn gave their manager a great send off last time out by beating his old team Bolton at the Reebok Stadium by two goals to nil. This was Blackburn’s first away game after their fruitless visits to Arsenal, Chelsea and then Manchester United in consecutive away games; games which they lost 6-2, 5-0 and 2-0 respectively. It was a much needed victory on the road and moved the Rovers team up to eleventh in the league table with sixteen points. They do, though, have a game in hand over a few of their rivals.

Stoke City, although great at home, have only won once away from the Britannia Stadium this season, and that was, funnily enough, at high flying Tottenham a few weeks ago. They come into the game at Ewood Park on the back of a 1-0 home win over rock-bottom Portsmouth and as a consequence find themselves in ninth position in the league table with nineteen points. In their six games away from home this season they have recorded one win, three draws and have suffered two defeats.
