Sunderland takes on Bolton Wanderers at the Stadium of Light this Saturday afternoon for a Premier League fixture between two sides that appear to have lost their way in recent weeks. Join us here at oleolefootball.com at the weekend and see how the two teams get on in this live stream football offering from the EPL.
After such a bright start to the season, Steve Bruce’s Sunderland side are currently going through an awful run of form. They haven’t won in the last seven Premier League games, and indeed have only won once (against Arsenal, of all teams) in eleven games. This run of form has seen the team drop to tenth in the Premier League standings with 23 points to their name. Tenth may not seem so bad, but when you consider that 23 points is only five points ahead of the third relegation spot you can see how tight it is at the bottom end of the table.
Saturday’s game against Bolton offers Steve Bruce and his side a great opportunity to return to winning ways in the Premier League. Whether the team can grasp this chance is another story. In the third round of the FA Cup last weekend Sunderland beat non-league side Barrow 3-0 at home.
Last time out in the Premier League Bolton Wanderers drew 2-2 at home to Hull City, and this despite taking a 2-0 lead in the game. The result was the straw that broke the camel’s back, so to speak, and immediately after the game Gary Megson was sacked as Wanderers manager. As of writing this article the team are still managerless, but Burnley’s Owen Coyle appears to be the favourite to take over.

The Black Cats of Sunderland were at home to the Hammers last week. Sunderland have been trying to escape the danger zone of the league table all season long. They posted 15 points through 13 matches and the 15 points are the product of 4 wins, 3 draws and 6 losses with 12 goals scored and 19 conceded. Roy Keane's squad will be without Waghorn and Connolly for this match.
Bolton picked up an excellent victory on the road in week 14 as they defeated Middlesbrough by a score of 1-3 at the Riverside Stadium. Gary Megson's club are now in 12th place of the Premier League table with 17 points. Those 17 points are the product of 5 wins, 2 draws and 7 losses with 14 goals scored and 16 conceded. The club will not be able to count on Vaz Te who is out for the season.
With both teams currently in the bottom half of the league table this is a match that neither can afford to lose.
