David Moyes takes his Everton side to Sunderland on Saturday on the back of a 1-1 home draw with Birmingham City. Moyes felt his side did enough to merit victory against the in-form Birmingham side. Everton themselves have now gone six games without a Premier League victory and in the last eleven games have only won once. They are now fifteenth in the league table and have eighteen points to their name.

Sunderland welcome Everton to the Stadium of Light on Sunday, needing to gain maximum points to take themselves clear of the Premier League relegation zone. Sunderland go into this game on the back of an awful 3-0 defeat at West Brom, Jonas Olsson, Chris Brunt and Juan Carlos Menseguez scoring the goals. The players have been lamented since the result and manager Ricky Sbragia will be expecting a response in this crucial game. After that defeat Sunderland found themselves just four clear of the relegation zone, with four games left to play. They have suffered a slump in form in recent weeks, losing five out of the last six Premier League games.

They also have the added bonus of qualifying for Europe already, through the fact that they have made it to the FA Cup final. Manager David Moyes suffered an injury last weekend, with influential defender Phil Jagielka picking up a knee injury which will keep him out for up to six months. Nigerian international Joseph Yobo is likely to start alongside Joleon Lescott at heart of the Toffee’s defence in the absence of the England international.
