Sunderland were mightily impressive in their 2-1 victory over Spurs last time around. After losing out to a winder goal from Fernando Torres in their opening fixture, Sunderland were brilliant against Spurs and a late goal from Djibril Cisse sealed all three points for the Black Cats. After keeping their premiership status intact last season with a performance of guts and will, Sunderland have strengthened their squad heavily and the likes of Djibril Cisse and Anton Ferdinand will help them pull up their performance big time going into a tough and long season.
Manchester City like Sunderland, recovered from an opening day defeat in style to notch up a victory against West Ham. Elano was the star of the show for City as he ripped through the Hammer’s defence with ease over and over again to help City notch up a 3-0 victory. However, the victory was marred by an injury to promising defender Micah Richards. The young fullback suffered a knock while going for the goal and City will hope that new striker Jo can score enough goals to make up for the weakness in defence this coming weekend against Sunderland.
