Although Celtic still currently lead the way in the SPL, they slipped up last weekend by drawing away to Falkirk, therefore allowing arch rivals Rangers to close within two points of the top with a game in hand thanks to their home win over St. Mirren. Celtic’s game against Falkirk last time out was one they would have expected to win without too much difficulty, but the home side obviously had other ideas.

The lead lasted just six minutes when Falkirk won a penalty. This was duly dispatched and not three minutes later Falkirk had turned the match on its head by taking a shock lead. Celtic hit back in the 72^nd minute when McDonald equalised, and then the same player gave Celtic the lead on 79 minutes. Their joy only lasted four minutes though as Falkirk managed to hit back again and equalise. Despite the best efforts of both teams the final result finished at 3-3.

Dundee United go into the match against Celtic on the back of a 2-0 away win at Kilmarnock. The result moved them up to fourth in the league table with nineteen points with a game in hand over third placed Hibs who have 21 points.

Dundee will be realistically hoping for a third place this season although it would be naïve to dismiss them in the chase for the title in a season which kick-starts with an outing against the Champions.
