Rangers beat bitter rivals Celtic 1-0 in the last Old Firm derby of the season at Parkhead on Saturday. Northern Ireland international Steven Davis was the hero for Walter Smith’s men, scoring the only goal of the game after Kenny Miller had done some good work to set him up.

Rangers are currently two points ahead of Celtic, but could be trailing the Bhoys going into the clash against Hibs if the defending champions get the better of Dundee United at Parkhead. Derby goal scorer Steven Davis has said that it is absolutely essential that Rangers do not drop points in this fixture.

Hibs produced a stunning performance to beat Hearts at Tynecastle on Saturday. Despite missing Rob Jones, Colin Nish, Chris Hogg and Sol Bamba through suspension, Mixu Paatelainen’s under strength side emerged 1-0 winners. Derek Riordan scored the winner from the spot after he had been hacked down by Christos Karipidis.

Ian Murray and Steve Thicot, pairing up for the first time in defence, did a wonderful job together. Rangers are the only side in the top six that Hibs have failed to beat this season. The suspended quartet of Jones, Nish, Hogg and Bamba will again be available for selection against the Gers. It remains to be seen whether Paatelainen choses to stick with the side that did so well against Hearts or switches back to his regular 11.
