Atalanta are fourth from bottom in the Serie A table with just goal difference separating them from 18^th placed Livorno. They have won only once in their last six games, and were beaten 2-0 by Fiorentina on Match Day 15.

Juan Vargas and Alberto Gilardino scored for La Viola in that game that saw Atalanta’s Jaime Valdes getting sent off. Valdes had come on in the 69^th minute of the game as a substitute but was given his marching orders fifteen minutes later for picking up two yellow cards. The Chilean midfielder is therefore suspended for Inter’s visit to Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia.

Inter beat Rubin Kazan 2-0 on Wednesday night to book their spot in the next round of the Champions League. Goals in either half from Samuel Eto’o and Mario Balotelli allowed the Nerazzurri to beat Rubin at the San Siro. Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder also made a return from injury in that game for Jose Mourinho’s side.

Brazilian wing back Maicon is available after missing the Derby D’Italia last week through suspension. However Inter will be without Ghanaian midfielder Sulley Muntari and Argentine centre back Walter Samuel, both of whom are serving one match bans.
