Juventus’ 3-0 win over Napoli in the Coppa Italia proved to be a false dawn for their supporters as Chievo beat them 1-0 last weekend. Paolo de Ceglie’s attempted clearance landed at the feet of Gennaro Sardo, who blasted home from thirty five yards out to put Chievo ahead.
Juventus tried hard to equalise, but the Flying Donkeys held firm and came out with three deserved points. Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo is suspended for the Giallorossi’s visit to Turin. However the club will be boosted by the arrival of Momo Sissoko, who has returned from the African Cup of Nations after Mali’s early exit from the tournament.
Roma overcame Genoa 3-0 to move above Juventus in the league standings last week. Simone Perrotta put Roma ahead on 17 minutes and a brace for Luca Toni, his first and second goals for the Eternal City club after his arrival from German giants FC Bayern, put the game beyond Genoa’s reach.
Doni returns from suspension for Roma. The Giallorossi will also be hopeful that talismanic skipper Francesco Totti can recover from his knee injury in time. Star midfielder Daniele de Rossi was on the bench against Genoa, but is likely to feature from the start against Juventus. Roma have improved greatly since Ranieri took over the reigns from Luciano Spalletti. They have not lost in the league since Udinese beat them 2-1 in late October.

The biggest clash of the weekend in Europe sees the might of Juventus come up against AS Roma at the Stadio Delle Alpi, a fixture you can follow live online on www.oleolefootball.com with our coverage of Juventus vs AS Roma live online, our coverage starting from 19:30 GMT Saturday 1st November 2008.
Juventus have slipped up from a bright start to the campaign and they will need to improve their form greatly if they are to challenge the Milan clubs for the Scudetto title. The Old lady of Turin have found the going tough in recent weeks and they ended last week with a disappointing 2-1 defeat at Napoli. Playing at a jam-packed home crowd, Juventus simply fell flat in the face of some good football by Napoli. However, the Bianconeri did redeem themselves with a 2-1 victory over Real Madrid with the old guard of Trezeguet and Del Piero scoring the goals. Victory here would see them move into the top half of the table, a bare mandatory requirement for a club of the size of Juventus.
AS Roma like Juventus have fallen badly in recent weeks and following a 1-0 loss at the hands of Chelsea, they look crest fallen coming into this critical fixture. Despite having the likes of Totti, Mexes, Juan and De Rossi Roma have often suffered from the lack of self confidence, something brought out by two consecutive second places to Inter Milan. Roma are currently tenth in the table with nine points from seven matches and with Totti looking to redeem himself, they will fancy their chances of picking up all three points against Juventus away from home in the weekend round of matches in the Italian Seria A.
